Encik Tan Kai merupakan tokoh veteran Gerakan Pemulihan Sekolah Menengah Persendirian Cina Perak yang telah banyak mencurahkan tenaga untuk meletakkan asas yang kukuh kepada perkembangan berterusan Sekolah Menengah Persendirian Cina negeri Perak. Selama berpuluh-puluh tahun, beliau memberi sumbangan yang tidak terhingga kepada perkembangan pendidikan di kawasan perkampungan Pantai, di samping melahirkan ramai modal insan yang berkualiti tinggi untuk masyarakat.
Ucapan Penerima Anugerah
Supporting Chinese independent school and her teaching system is something that basically every Chinese should do.
For me, as a teacher and principal of Chinese independent school, it is my duty too, I shouldn’t take any credit for it.
The award from LLG Cultural Development Centre to me is such an unexpected honor. It is also a boost to our successor in this career.
I hope that the future Chinese compatriots can support and protect independent school as I have done.
I suffered from the Japanese invasion during the 2nd World War, when I graduated from high school I was more than 20 years old.
I can clearly remember that my principal Dr. Yen Yuan Chang always went to KL fight for the rights for Chinese education with Mr. Lim Lian Geok and they affected me a lot, I am full of admiration for him. I remembered in particular one of his quotes, which is
” Let me scale the dragon with mighty dread,
My clenched fist over the tiger’s head!”
His words stimulated us.
Hope our Chinese future generations will learn from his spirit. Hope his dream that our mother tongue education can be fairly treated will become true in our nation one day.
It is always my responsibility to give my strength to our Chinese Independent School, I’ve never thought about the Lim Lian Geok Spirit Award to be granted to me, it is such an honor indeed.
I also thank Yik Ching High School for giving me this platform and opportunity, to make me who I am today.
Thanks for the co-operation of teachers and colleagues in the past decades of years.
