Joint Press Statement by 32 NGOs
We, the following Non Government Organizations (NGO), strongly condemn the current MP of Pengerang Azarina’s recent untrue accusations that the protestors of HHP 930 are mainly “outsiders”, and each of the protestors are paid RM30 for allowance.
It is basic common sense that pollution and corruption are harmful to our community. Ironically both pollution and corruption projects under “1Malaysia” recent policies are getting very common in our country. We protest against environmental and industrial pollution. We oppose against land swap, abuse of using Land Acquisition Act. We defend the Eco system of Malaysia, the place we call home.
Anyone intents to classify the community movement into “local and foreign” supports is indeed intending to deceive the whole Malaysian. Because, they are no local and foreign different under a pro-pollution and corruption regime, we are all victims.
We believe, MP Azarina,the people representatives, should listen to the people’s demand, rather than giving misleading and untruth statements to confuse the public. Making accusation without evidences will only cost event more resentment from the public.
Although, Azarina could become the Member of Parliament twice without challenged. She has the responsibilities and duties as a people representative still. Making irresponsible statement to accuse others without proves is humiliating our democratic system, and cause irresponsible political culture to our country.
We urge MP Azarina to provide evidences to prove to the public what she has accused that the protestors on HHP 930 has been paid RM30 for allowance. Otherwise, she must take back on what she has accused and apologize to the people.
If our statement/demand is neglected by those people representatives again. We urge the voters of Pengerang and the whole Malaysia, “Local and foreign”, stand up and use your votes to show that our cause is the right cause. Never let the pretenders unchallenged again in the coming elections.
